Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has given the reseasons behind midfielder Eden Hazard’s failure to meet expectations of the fans while at the club.
The former Chelsea winger left Santiago Bernabeu last summer and retired from active football a few months later.
Hazard arrived with the Spanish capital city club with great fanfare from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2019.
He, however, struggled to continue with the form he displayed at Chelsea at the Bernabeu.
Beset by injuries and a loss of form and confidence, the former Lille star was a pale shadow of himself.
Ancelotti said the Belgian struggled with injuries and lacked the intensity in training.
He said, according to Obione podcast via Madrid Xtra, “Eden Hazard is a fantastic guy. His problem was injuries, of course, but he also had difficulty being in competition.
“You have to train with intensity when you are not playing. He had difficulties to compete, to fight and to play.”
